Riot Games – the developer behind the massively popular MOBA League of Legends – has handed out bans and suspensions to three major teams: Team Impulse, Team Dragon Knights (TDK), and Renegades.
Team Impulse has failed to pay their members on time, not provided valid contracts for their employment, and also falsified summary sheets that claimed that legitimate contracts actually existed. The team has been fined $20,000 USD and management has 10 days to sell it off.
TDK and Renegades have been given the same ruling, due to similar infringements by both parties. Both teams commingled their player pool, conducted in trades, and hid all this information from Riot.
Riot contends that Renegades owner Christopher Mykles promised suspended team owner Chris Badawi a 50-percent stake in the team after his suspension. Riot claims that no suspended owner can have any dealings in team ownership, and as such have issued a lifetime ban against Badawi. Mykles, who is also a famous commentator, has been suspended for a year. Both parties have denied the accusations on social media.
