The 'me too's' of games

Im not sure if many people actually feel the same way as I do.But theres this niggling feeling inside of me feeling as if there is a distict lack of truly 'innovative' games coming out onto the market these days..... I mean, I'm not expert of guru when it comes to games and probably dont know anymore than the average joe out there when it comes to PC and console gaming and PC modding but I just havent been bedazzled from new games lately.
Dont get wrong there are great titles that many have really enjoyed and rack up a decent amount of play time on and offline.I just feel that I keep going back to the oldie goldies...(they arent actually that old per se). Source and Dota have been around for a few years and I just cant seem to find anything that has held my attention as firmly and for the same period of time.
In my mind the CS franchise from valve really hit the nail on the head, testiment to the pronounced presence even at the XLAN torny this year. Hell even my brother entered with his clan and competed ( with my old account btw). COD4, crysis, TF2 I have played all but they each dont have the pazzaz and multiplayer fun i seek with my sporadic gaming behaviour.
Dota is another example, even though I dont have the time to play RTS games hours on end such as my teenage years (Im only 23 btw, doing masters at AU) I seek gaming sessions no lnger than 2 hours at most at a time. Nothing seems to feel the void that WC3 and especially the custom maps can offer...
This may all seem like mumble jumble to most from a geek past his use by date. But this is just my short 2 cents on my outlook on the industry...
PS dont hate me, I posted this, my first ever blog to win that Logictec prize pack so rate me awesome as you will.
