Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Published Sunday 22 Aug 2010 8:37pm | Xbox 360Infinity Ward has done it again and crafted one hell of a game. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 can be as frustrating as ever but no matter how many times you fail at it you can't help but to come back and have another game.
Yes, the campaign is fairly short about 5-6 hours in length and there are some unbalanced weapons and perks such as the Commando perk and the infamous 'noob tube' but overall this is one fine, engaging and addictive piece of software. Goodbye old life.
The campaign involves putting an end to Vladimir Makarovs acts of terrorism and what an epic journey it is. There are a variety of levels with some taking place in the sands of Afghanistan and some in the snow. The graphics and lighting effects are extremely impressive and makes the game much more immersive especially in HD.
There is a cooperative mode called Spec Ops which involves completing mini objectives solo or with a partner such as eliminating all enemies, defusing bombs before they detonate or covering your friends back while operating an AC-130 gunship. There are three difficulties for each level and each difficulty awards the player stars.
These are great additions to the Call of Duty series but the main reason people play Call of Duty is to play the multiplayer. It is quite similar to the previous games in the series but that necessarily is not a bad thing. There are some interesting additions like customisable killstreaks where the more kills you gather, the better items you get to obliterate your enemies with. These include predator missiles, harrier strikes, AC-130 gunships and also the almighty tactical nuke which ends the game so long as you rake up a 25 killstreak. Getting that nuke makes players want to play more in hope of gaining that killstreak.
The majority of weapons are balanced but there are the odd letdowns such as the cheap and nasty grenade launcher used by the inexperienced or noobs as some people may call them.
The ranking system goes to level 70 and the more bombs you plant and the more kills you gather earns these experience points to go towards your overall rank. You can repeat this ranking up ten times when you choose to go Prestige.
Overall i am satisfied with the effort and time Infinity Ward has put into the making of this game and despite a few imbalance issues, cheap perks and easy ways to boost and cheat with others it is an excellent game and one that is worth your hard earned cash. MUST BUY!

multiplayer is lacking and unbalanced.
noob tubing is not only done by new or inexperienced players, People who play this game non stop will still use these over powered weapons.
Also MW2 is one of those games that promotes camping. Campers are usless but it seems that 90% of them think that they are the greatest players on the earth.
The lag is also really bad - bring on dedicated servers. No matter how good your internet conection is, the host will allways have an advantage and if the host isnt in the same country as you, You will be at a disadvantage to the people that are.
All that said - I still like the ocasional game when people dont only go for the "cheap" kills.
Im more or less waiting for resistance 3 (hoping its more like R1 and nothing like r2)
and also GT5. thats going to be epic
