I have been studying german at school for four years now, and it was all for this. A 2 month trip to Germany. Or should i say Deutschland? I haven#t really been paying attention in class for the past few years and it's been showing. it might just be my jet lag, but i don't really know.

anyway, this was an exchange program where a german kid around my age (17) comes and visits me in New Zealand for 2 months in july-August, and then i go over December-January.

I fly to auckland, then to san francisco, to frankfurt and finally stuttgart. my host family is half irish, so i don't find it hard to coax them into speaknig english to me... :P

My flights were uneventful.. no fires, rapes, nothing of the sort. closest thing we had was a slight bout of turbulance over the atlantic. I made friends, surprisingly all girls, and we have decided to keep in touch over the trip. i only got around to watching 3 movies, 1 on the Frankfurt one, and two on the san fran one. i saw fred claus,  and on the san fran flight i saw silence of the lambs and in bruge, both great movies if you havent seen them yet. this was because the airlines reset all the TVs after a few had screwed up, and i had gotten annoyed at being interrupted so many times while trying to watch ghost town.

i just went to see Quantum of Solace in german... it was kinda easy to understand what they were saying.. but a fun way to learn the language. it's amazing how much action is in the film if you don't understand a word of it.
i got a mug with chocolate in my shoe, and my first german beer. i think it was Ratler or something like that. lemonade and beer mix.
i got this cute usb stick from burger king, shaped like a chip box. 6 euro for a 1 gig memory stick. not bad..
