AT A GLANCE

The Good: Looks to take all the best bits of the recent Bond games and improve upon them. Did I mention Sean Connery? "Sean Connery adds a class of touch to EA’s Bond games."
The Bad: No online play options.
The Ugly: The look on Q’s face after Bond ‘returns’ his precious gadgets for the first time. (From Russia With Love marks Q’s first appearance)

Ever since good old GoldenEye on the Nintendo 64, gamers have been left wanting another game that really makes them feel like Mr Bond himself. EA have had the job of trying to live up to these huge expectations, and whilst they haven’t quite got there yet, they are getting pretty damn close. Their last attempt, “Everything or Nothing” was their best yet, and “From Russia With Love” looks to further improve the formula.

Personally, I don’t think you can top the original era of James Bond films. Apparently EA think likewise as instead of being set in one of the recent films, they have opted to bring back a classic. The best part about this is that we now get to play as Sean (the best Bond) Connery, and apart from just controlling a sharp likeness, Connery actually lends his voice to the game which is a nice change from the usual videogame sound-a-likes we normally have to bear with. Whilst the game will of course be based on the book/movie, EA will be expanding on certain parts of the script and modifying certain parts for more creative freedom with the game design.

To really nail it, though, EA will need to make the game as slick and sophisticated as a real 00 agent. But if there’s one company that’s good at gloss and authenticity – it’s EA.
