May 2016 Game Release Schedule

May 2016 Game Release Schedule

April is coming to a close, and with it, we've seen the launch of Quantum Break, Dark Souls III, DiRT Rally, Ratchet & Clank, and All Blacks Rugby Challenge 3. Now, it's time to look ahead to what May has in store.

Next month sees the launch of highly anticipated titles like Battleborn (May 3), Uncharted 4 (May 10), Doom (May 13), Fire Emblem Fates (May 21), and Overwatch (May 24). Mirror's Edge Catalyst was also scheduled to be out in May, but it's been delayed until June.

Note: While this list is intended to be as comprehensive as possible, is difficult to cover everything, especially with the growing prominence of downloadable and indie games. If you notice anything that's missing, please let us know in the comments, or by emailing news@nzgamer.com.

Battleborn

Follow

PS4, Xbox One, PC

A tremendous band of badass heroes fight to protect the universe's very last star from a mysterious evil in this next-gen shooter by the creators of Borderlands. To defend it, you'll need to utilize every type of character and weapon you've ever imagined -- from cyborg hawkmen to samurai vampires to mini-gun wielding man-mountains. Slash and parry, run and gun, cast and dash, or simply obliterate foes all while building and growing your personal team of heroes. Choose your hero and fight alone or co-operatively alongside friends in story missions, or battle against them in fast-paced competitive multiplayer matches.

Stranger of Sword City

Follow

Vita

From the studio behind Demon Gaze, this new title takes a decidedly more Western approach to the traditional dungeon crawler and infuses the game with dark fantasy themes, new gameplay elements, and the ability to compete with fellow players through a leaderboard system. This title is, at its core, a game about death and fighting against vanishing forever. You will discover new meaning in the choices you make to survive against all odds. You will define yourself by the lives of those you leave behind, by the people you align yourself with, and the experiences you have on each new venture into the dark labyrinths that threaten to trap you.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

Follow

PS4

Several years after his last adventure, retired fortune hunter, Nathan Drake, is forced back into the world of thieves. With the stakes much more personal, Drake embarks on a globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure. His greatest adventure will test his physical limits, his resolve, and ultimately what he's willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves.

Home front, over watch and valkyria all look worth a look, will wait for a review though before I'd commit. Home front in particular if done well and plays to its brief could be awesome.

Some pretty cool games coming out next month. Love the Rock n' Roll skins for the Turtles - totally had the RnR toy versions of Don, Leo, and Mikey back when they first released back in the day. Didn't have Raph because I was wanting the Spacesuit version of him :P

Agreed, I'm a huge Borderlands fan, Borderlands 2 is one of my favourite games and I wasn't impressed with Battleborn at all.

Basically THIS.

Doom Beta was underwhelming and not sold on Battleborn.

Anyway, Alienation first and No Mans Sky for afters makes April, May and June hell of a run.

UC4 and Overwatch for sure. Might even have a look at TMNT if there is a demo :)

I have to say Naughty Dog are doing their name justice with every title they release - brilliant developers

I'm interested in Dooms single player. Will it be a long enjoyable and re-playable experience or a three hour on the rails soulless grind.
