University (part 1)

Ayo wazzup? Did you read my last blog about Xmas gifts? Hope y'all had a good xmas and used my guide well. Anyway, school kids have just got their NCEA results last week. Some of you will be going off to university soon. I've had a few NZG'gers ask me about different aspects of it. So I thought I'd write a blog about my experiences at Auckland University while I was studying for my degree.
Choosing what do study
The most important decision you will make as a Uni student is picking what your going to major in. Don't pick something just because your friends are doing it, or because it's easy. Do something you have an interest in, and you think you might enjoy. First year courses may be a little boring because you're learning the basics, but they normally get better later on. However if you do think you have made the wrong choice, you can always change.
Student Loans
Unless you have rich parents you will be needing one of these. So once you are accepted into Uni the next thing you should do is sort out your student loan. It can be a real hassle if you leave it too late. For more info check out the studylink website.
First week of Uni
When you first start Uni it can be pretty over whelming. I remember my first class were about 250 people in the lecture theatre. I was like ‘Wow look at all those people!’. With the 1000's of people moving around all over the place, trying to find your classes, getting there on time, and tracking down friends from school it can be quite confusing. I went to the campus a week or so before it started to find out where everything was. Made things much easier. If you do get lost I suggest searching the area for the hottest chick and then asking her. You never know she might be going to the same class.
Class
In the first week you can pretty much cruise through Uni. There is not much to do. It's just basic introductions and getting settled into things. During lectures you normally get a hand outs of the lecture notes or a PDF of the notes are available on the internet to download. So you don't need to copy down everything that's written on the board or shown on the PowerPoint slideshow. But that does not mean you should just go to sleep, or pick up the notes and leave. This is a mistake a lot of first years make. Pay attention to what the lecturer says. The lecturer usually builds on the notes and just because it's not in the notes does not mean it's not on the exam.
Normally you need to pass the assignments/tests during the semester and the final exam, with no second chances. No redo's to fix things up or opportunities for a resit, unlike NCEA.
Well that's the end of part 1. Watch out for part 2 which includes a section entitled "Boobs!".
But wait, where is Misa? Sadly Misa never went to Uni, and I met her just as I was finished so I don’t really have any Misa related pics. How ever I did just make this for lulz. Kind of stink, but yeah… She will return in part 2.

Aiiiiight laters
