Take-Two In Trouble

The controversy surrounding the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas' "Hot Coffee" mod continues to mount. Today, GameStop, the largest gaming retailer in the United States, announced that it was removing the game from its shelves as it has a policy of not selling "Adult Only" games.

GameStop join Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, and Circuit City in pulling San Andreas from store shelves due to the re-rating of the game following revelations that the game contained hidden, sexually explicit material.

Pulling the game from its shelves will cost GameSpot $US 1.1 million as it has been forced to dial back its forecasted profit projections owing to a huge charge to "write-down the value of its Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas used inventory currently in stock." Shares in GameStop also fell $1.33 during the days trading.

This latest controversy is sure to pour even more heat on Take-Two, publishers of the Grand Theft Auto series. Keep it locked onto NZGamer.com for all the latest on this controversy.
