The first details have arisen on the sequel to the immensely popular Need for Speed Underground. Rachel will be your mentor, and adrenaline junkie, who teaches you about the world of tuning cars.

The main selling point of Need for Speed Underground 2 will be the fact that you will be able to drive anywhere you want, in the wide-open environment. In the original Need For Speed Underground, there was one city with about 5 interconnected tracks, whereas in the upcoming game there will be 5 cities, based on real locations, such as San Francisco and Los Angeles. There was 40 kilometres of track in last years game, but the sequel will boast over 200 kilometres.

There will be a bunch of new game modes, as well as all the modes from last year's game. Which means, we still have drags, drifting competitions, point A to B races, circuit races, elimination races and more. The career mode this year will also be changed. Rather than having to do all the races in the game, as was the case in the original Need for Speed Underground, you will now be able to choose which races you want to do. The races will be found while driving around the 'world' and you will have the choice to participate in them or not. There should be roughly about 150 races in the game.

There will be shops you can find on the map also, these will contain new parts for your car, and unique upgrades. Once you've found these shops, the parts they contain will also be available from all other shops on the map, so you wont need to drive over half the 'world' to get a shop with a certain upgrade. Tweaking your car will be a much easier, but will still have many options for people to change small details. There will be two options when buying a performance upgrade in the game. You'll have the option of either buying a premade kit and being done with it, or you can customize the different upgrades in the kit to fine-tune your wheels.
