CD Projekt RED Detail Their RPG Development Tool

Polish developer CD Project RED (The Witcher 2, Cyberpunk 2077) have provided further detail this morning about REDKit, a toolset that allows players to create their own role-playing games or even modify The Witcher 2.

“REDkit is a fresh approach to RPG creation. No other tool makes it so easy to create adventures where the player's choices actually matter," said Paweł Panasiuk, developer on the REDkit team.

The tool allows players to create worlds with day-night cycles and custom landscapes, as well as providing access to assets that were used in The Witcher 2.

REDKit is now in a closed beta phase, and is expected to be released in the first half of 2013. It will be free to owners of The Witcher 2; details as to whether it will be available in any form to people who don't own The Witcher 2 were not included in this announcement.
