Gamers that grew up on the NES, do I have news for you. There's a new clone that?s been developed, and no this isn't your average crappy clone, oh no! In fact, this tops the Top Loader NES off my most wanted list.
What's so great about it? Well for a start it's got built in compatibility with 2.4 GHz wireless controllers, as well as standard ports so all the normal accessories work such as the 4-player adaptor and Zapper.
Next up is the fact it has two cartridge slots. One for the US NES carts and one for NeoFami carts. Both of these are direct slots meaning you should never have to deal with flashing light syndrome. All non Top Loader NES owners will know what I mean by that, sometimes it can take a lot of adjusting and blowing to get your games working on the usual model.
As if this wasn't enough, there are AV sockets and a multi-voltage AC adaptor. The main problem with Nintendo's official Top Loader is a lack of AV outs.
This isn?t a Nintendo official product of course, but it is one of the most significant recent retro releases. I have to say personally this news excites me just as much as talk of the new Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo consoles. The unit will retail for US$59.99 and will be available in September. No word yet on if they will ship to New Zealand, but I'll be looking at getting one of these for sure so I'll be asking them on availability anyway and will update when I hear the latest.
Check out more details at the official site.
Oh, and did I mention it's tiny? It measures in at an amzing 1.5 inches tall!
