Metal Gear Solid 4 Patch Adds Trophies, Full Install

The long-awaited patch for the four year old Metal Gear Solid 4 has arrived this afternoon, adding two of that game's most requested features: trophies and the ability to install the entire game onto the hard disk.

Weighing in at 516 MB, the patch - which is currently available in PAL territories and Japan only - enables a full (9 GB) install of the game and unlocks a full complement of trophies, including Platinum. The installation, according to posters on NeoGAF, takes around 16 minutes.

Cheers to fifamessi for the tip!

Don't want to sound like a whiner, but I did tip NZgamer off about this a few weeks back in the forums and have updated as news as developed including patch release date.

Hmm didn't get your email about it; we're pretty religious about reading tips too. Apologies if we missed it! Thanks for taking the time out to let us know :)

I was just jumping in to add the comment that this news is a couple of weeks old but I see you've already explained that. NZ Gamer, not to sound like a whiner also, but alot of your "news" is outdated, I quite often see things you guys have put up that have been available to see on other game sites for days, even weeks, before you post them. Just saying, please don't take it as having a go. You're still my favourite! :)

No email just a forum topic

http://forums.nzgamer.com/index.php?/topic/20128-metal-gear-solid-4-gettting-trophies-yep-its-for-real-this-time/

And NZgamer is my Fav too, maybe not the quickest with the news but a much nicer & well informed community than 90% of the sites out there!!

This news isn't old at all, patch came out just 6 hours ago. It was announced a month ago that there would be a patch, mentioned to come out at the end of August. It is news because it came out today.

So if this isn't old news, then how did we know about it a month ago?

The news is quite obviously about the Patch actually hitting today, not the fact that a patch had been announced so the news is not outdated at all

We didn't know about a month ago. We knew there would be a patch, but not today..because there was no set date for the patch.. the news of a trophy patch is old, but the date wasn't known(late August was the rumour), so it coming out today is definitely news.. Not that hard to understand really. Not everyone puts MGS4 in everyday to see if the patch is out yet, people will see this and know that is out now. Instead of waiting for late August..

Yeah, one sentence in the entire article. The majority of it is about the patch itself, the details of which have been available for weeks now. I see your point although.

I do "get it", and I see your point, i'm not retarded. You however obviously only read half of my original comment and missed the point I was trying to make about seeing news on NZ Gamer that it is not so up to date. So without getting into a petty war with somebody that obviously sits there hitting refresh to see if his comments that he thinks are incredibly intelligent have been replied to, i'm off to play MGS4.

Dude, this is Fifa, one of the, if not the, most respectful and helpful members here.

Now where have I heard that before...?

Pretty sure I'm better than Fifi... just sayin'

I would have to agree with Jake and Fifa, this is about the patch releasing today and a quick recap of what that patch does. It's not "breaking" news about the patch its self.

Now everyone calm down and hug it out.
