Square Enix have announced Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, a "fully redesigned" and "rebuilt from the ground up" version of the previously released (and critically panned) MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV.
“Since announcing our plans for the future of the title last October, we have been working tirelessly to include all of the elements that we have promised in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, which we announced today. This new title not only becomes a symbol of a completely new Final Fantasy XIV, but also marks the beginning of a new stage as the latest title in the Final Fantasy series. I hope you’re looking forward to it!” said Naoki Yoshida, Producer / Director of Final Fantasy XIV.
The rebooted version of the game, previously referred to as Version 2.0, is "coming soon", according to a new trailer on finalfantasyxiv.com. The trailer for the new version also states that it is still planned for release on PlayStation 3, something that has seemed uncertain since the game originally released on PC in 2010.
