Electronic Arts announced yesterday they had reached a deal to publish UFC titles, which are currently published by THQ.

As part of the agreement THQ will continue to publish titles they have in development on console and mobile devices through March 31, 2013.

From the press release:

“Over the last three years, THQ has delivered best-in-class, all-encompassing experiences to MMA fans, sports enthusiasts and fighting gamers around the globe with its UFC Undisputed series. We want to thank them for their stewardship of our brand," said Dana White, President, UFC. “We look forward to joining forces with EA to leverage their sports platform, and expand our brand in the video game space.”

Brian Farrell, THQ’s Chairman and CEO, commented, “We have relished our relationship with UFC over the last several years and believe that the UFC gaming brand is in great shape. THQ’s more focused strategy moving forward meant that transferring the license to EA made sense to all parties. We would like to thank UFC for their great support and partnership and wish EA all the best moving forward.”

NZGamer.com appears at E3 2012 thanks to Orcon Broadband.

UFC 3 was really good, hope EA keeps it up. Didn't enjoy their MMA, but it wasn't that bad.

UFC 3 Was good but had alot of glitches off and online which pretty much killed the competition. And it hasn't even been patched yet by THQ (3 months later).
If EA follows THQs formula the next game should be good. MMA was a good game but a bit basic compared to UFC. MMA had 10x better online modes/servers than all 3 UFC games combined so i'm looking forward to that aspect.

UFC 3 was a great game and a step up on the 2nd game. Did anybody ever win the Heavy Weight Champ title on hard? I only ever got to the No. 2 contender spot and keep getting submitted by various opponents. A lot of fun!

In a future dystopian world EA will have a monopoly on all game production and distribution.

They have either completely ruined or completely forgot about this game. All UFC U3 DLC on the PS Store have been taken down. If you buy the game brand new, your online pass code won't redeem, and you won't be able to buy one, because they have been taken down. Yet the servers are still up. Maybe EA don't want THQ to continue profiting from it, but if you didn't buy the game and use the online pass code, you won't be able to now. Which sucks :( . Bring on UFC Undisputed 4 I guess..
