2K Games have announced this morning that the hotly anticipated followup to 2007's BioShock is no longer on target for a Christmas release. Instead, BioShock Infinite is now shooting for a February 26, 2013 release.

The original launch date (announced in March) was slated for October 19th, 2012,

"When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing" stated Ken Levine, Creative Director of Irrational Games. "Since then, we've uncovered opportunities to make Infinite into something even more extraordinary. Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need to deliver the best Infinite possible, we've decided to move the game's release to February."

Well it's a pretty big delay so I can only hope they'll have something really amazing planned that'll make it worthwhile.

I read a report that this was due to Rockstar telling Take Two that GTAV would be ready by this time and 2K took advantage of a bit more development time for this game, which if true, is a bit win/win in my book.
