As E3 (held in LA in early June) gets closer, the rumours and speculation are ramping up into a fever pitch. Today's rumour, courtesy of Nintendo Life, is that Retro Studios (best known for the reboot of the Metroid series, into Metroid Prime) are working on Star Fox for the Wii U.

There seems to be little to no evidence to back up the story, so be sure to consider it with a sack full of salt, but it does seem to make sense. Nintendo are claiming the Wii U reveal will be exciting and loaded with high-profile content, and Nintendo fans would be very excited to see this popular franchise in the capable hands at Retro.

If true, it will likely be revealed at E3. Nintendo's press conference is at 4am on Wednesday the 6th of June New Zealand time, so if you're up and about, we'll be live-tweeting from Los Angeles. Otherwise, look for all the details later on that day.

Hell yes, I hope it's true, great series and a great company to have a crack at making a new game in the series.
