Bethesda Softworks have this morning announced The Elder Scrolls Online, to be developed by ZeniMax Online Studios.

The Elder Scrolls Online will be the first Elder Scrolls game to allow gamers to explore the legendary Elder Scrolls world with others.

"We have been working hard to create an online world in which players will be able to experience the epic Elder Scrolls universe with their friends, something fans have long said they wanted," said Matt Firor, game director of The Elder Scrolls Online. "It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years. The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise."

The Elder Scrolls Online is being developed for PC and Mac. Further details are expected when the game is fully revealed in June.

Ha, personally I'd be more interested in games like this and SW:TOR if they were on console, but I know what ya mean ;-)

The idea of playing Skyrim with friends online is definitely something that I would want, in fact it would be near the top of my wish list.

However the idea of playing a WoW or SW:TOR clone based in The Elder Scrolls universe would be near the bottom.

If the Elder Scrolls Online is in third person perspective and has no real time combat count me out.

be awsome to see what the rest of tamriel looks like. its supposed to be set 1000 years before skyrim so it would be interesting seeing skyrim of that period.
