PlayStation Store Update: 30 April, 2012

Another week, another PlayStation network update! As usual, there's a lot of content hitting the network, so here's our pick of some of the more interesting additions:

Skype on PlayStation Vita
The almost ubiquitous Skype video messaging service has extended its reach to the Vita, brining video calling capabilities to anyone lucky enough to own the new pocketable PlayStation.

“Our users appreciate being able to access Skype features wherever and whenever they choose,” said Manrique Brenes, senior director of emerging opportunities at Skype. “With the launch of Skype for PS Vita, we are taking another step towards our ultimate goal of making Skype video calling available on every platform, all over the world, and meeting the demands of existing PlayStation users to offer video on a gaming console.”

The application will run in the background, too, allowing you to receive calls (etc) even when you aren't actively using Skype itself. It's available now, in the "Social" section of the PlayStation Vita store, for free.

Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention on Vita
A tweaked version of the 2008 PlayStation 3 game, Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice, Absence of Detention updates the original with some minor enhancements to the tactical role-playing formula. A niche title, it's only available (officially) in New Zealand as a download from the PlayStation Vita store.
