LEGO Tightens Grip On Star Wars License

If you're a fan of the LEGO Star Wars range of action games, today's news about the franchise should be very welcome indeed. LEGO, based in Denmark, have secured a ten-year extension to their license to use the Star Wars brand - including its use in those very popular videogames.

The deal means that LEGO can continue to produce toys and videogames that bear the Star Wars identity (including characters, storylines, and so on) for the next ten years.

With five games appearing across some thirteen platforms in the seven years since the 2005 original, this deal would suggest there's much more to come. Now that all of the Movies have received the LEGO treatment, though, the obvious question must surely be this: what's next? Time, and NZGamer.com, will tell.

I think they have done a great job with their strange spin-off franchise. However, I can't help but think Lego are missing a bigger opportunity.

Mincraft is basically just Lego in pixels right... so...

"Time, and NZGamer.com, will tell." Smooth Alan haha.

I quite enjoyed the one of these I'd played, unfortunately I played it a little too soon after playing the Harry Potter one which, I actually thought was better.
