Rockstar's ground-breaking Grand Theft Auto III will go from a cutting-edge console game to a pocketable pleasure when it heads to "select new generation" iOS and Android devices next week.

The game, which we first brought you news of back in October, is exactly what it says it is: Grand Theft Auto III, in full, on your phone.

Today's announcement, that it will be available from December 15th (in the US), brings with it an updated list of supported devices (additions in bold):

iOS Devices

iPad 1
• iPad 2
iPhone 4
• iPhone 4S
iPod touch 4th Generation

Android Phones

HTC Rezound
• LG Optimus 2x
• Motorola Atrix 4G
• Motorola Droid X2
Motorola Photon 4G
Samsung Galaxy R
T-Mobile G2x
Note - the Samsung Galaxy S2 is no longer listed as being supported

Android Tablets

• Acer Iconia
• Asus Eee Pad Transformer
Dell Streak 7
LG Optimus Pad
• Motorola Xoom
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9
• Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
Sony Tablet S
Toshiba Thrive

The announcement also included a number of screenshots:

Timing of the availability of the title in New Zealand was not included in this announcement, however we'd expect it to be at about the same time. It's priced at $4.99 USD, so expect it to come in at around $6.49 here.
