Releasing this week (Assassin's Creed!)

An epic week, no question - there's a veritable raft of releases, particularly in the beloved action / shooting genres we at NZGamer.com hold so dear.

Check out some of our picks:

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
A remake of the beloved classic, this updated version brings the graphics into line with what you'd expect from a modern game without touching the underlying physics and gameplay. It's timed to coincide with the original game's tenth anniversary, which just makes us feel old to be honest. Happy Birthday Halo!

Assassin's Creed: Revelations
The number one pick for many, this new Assassin's Creed dials up the intrigue about as much as it promises to extend the sneaky / stabby gameplay.

Need for Speed: The Run
EA are tying the need for speed together with a need for narrative, in this story-driven entry into the decades-old racing series. If you're wondering why we're excited about it, watch this. Go on, we'll wait here. See? Awesome. Here's hoping it lives up to the hype!

Saints Row: The Third
The irreverent GTA-like open-world action game is back, and this time it's got a huge wobbling purple dildo weapon (unless you live in Japan). Not sure what all the fuss is about? We've got a host of videos up for the title, which all help build the hype a bit, but if you've only got time for one - make it this one.

The Rest
There's also the long-awaited debut of the uDraw tablet on Xbox 360 / PlayStation 3 (including a few launch titles for the device), a new LEGO Harry Potter title, a new Mario & Sonic at the Olympics title, and more. There's updated versions of L.A. Noire, The Witcher 2, and Marvel vs. Capcom 3. There's even a bunch of new PlayStation Move titles, if you like that kind of thing, and a heap of stuff for the kids as well.

It's on, basically.
