The Getaway Black Monday will be the follow up to the highly successful The Getaway, and is set for a November release on the PlayStation 2. The Getaway Black Monday is set in a real living breathing London, complete with clogged up roads full of cars, motorcycles and the congestion charge!
One story is told from three different perspectives, but ultimately the player decides how the story ends as they play through 22 missions. The branching narrative moves backward and forward in time through gameplay and movie sequences, offering multiple story endings. Gamers can choose from a variety of new vehicles including motorcycles, buses, vans, taxis and more, to steal, drive and crash, experiencing re-defined physics and damage models. The Getaway: Black Monday combines cinematic narrative with driving and shooting missions in the gritty streets of London, updated with 17 new landmarks/city locations, include an East End boxing gym, an old snooker club, thrilling chases across rooftops and pivotal game sections featuring the famous London Underground, amongst many others.
"The Getaway Black Monday is set two years after the events on the Sol Vita. London has moved on. It's Sergeant Mitchell's first day back on the Met's (Metropolitan Police) firearms squad, and it's going to be one to remember; a dawn raid on a council estate turns nasty. But that's just the beginning...the next 48 hours will see him come up against the most powerful man in London."
"Meanwhile on the other side of the City Boxer Eddie O'Connor is getting a severe beating; the bank job went horribly wrong, his crew are decimated. Bodies are continuing to drop left, right and centre. His only ally in this whole mess is Sam, a lightweight thief more comfortable with nicking laptops than extreme violence. He knows he's way out of his depth - now his friends are dead and somebody is going to have to pay."
