Sonic Team has announced that Sonic The Hedgehog 4 episode 2 will be out next year. The news may come as a surprise to fans who, having waited a year without some much as a teaser, believed Sega had given up on releasing the remaining episodes.
Sonic Team's Takashi Likuza broke the news to Eurogamer that Sonic 4's next episode will arrive next year, roughly two years after the first. Likuza noted part of the reason Episode 2 isn't out this year is that it's Sonic's 20th anniversary.
"This year, 2011, is the (20th) anniversary, so we're focusing on the celebration title (Sonic Generations)," Likuza told Eurogamer, "But moving forward to 2012, Sonic will still be going, so I'd hope to provide Episode 2 then."
As of now Sonic Team can't say when Sonic the Hedgehog 4: episode 3 will be released, or if there will be one at all. "We can't say if there's going to be Episode 3 or not," Lizuka said when sked if the wait between the second and third episodes would be as long.
Meanwhile, Half Life fans are still waiting on Half Life 2 episode 3.
