PSN: "Welcome Back" Game Sizes Detailed

When Sony announced the "Welcome Back" package, a plan whereby affected PlayStation gamers could download some free games to thank them for putting up with the extended (and still ongoing) PSN outage, one of the first things to cross the minds of Kiwi gamers was this: how big are the games?

We are, after all, fairly restricted as to how much we can download on most broadband plans in New Zealand, with overage being a potentially costly scenario and something bill-payers (or those that might get yelled at by them) are constantly vigilant of.

With that in mind, we asked Sony to detail the size of the various games in order that gamers have all the pertinent information when choosing which of the free games they decide to opt for.

PlayStation 3
LittleBigPlanet - 2.1 GB
Infamous - 8 GB
Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty - 3.25 GB
Wipeout HD Fury - 1.2 GB
Dead Nation - 1.5 GB

PlayStation Portable
LittleBigPlanet - 1.37 GB
ModNation - 1.40 GB
Pursuit Force - 1.88 GB
Killzone Liberation - 554 MB

Wipeout and Dead Nation were my picks so I'm pretty happy with those sizes.

It's not so much an issue for me as we get the PS+ at the same time, so I'll be able to schedule the downloads for the middle of the night, when Xnet doesn't count downloads :-)

I will be going for the smaller titles. As I own a PS3 and PSP, I assume I will be able to download a selection from both. The offer is only available for 30days yeah? In which case most won't be able to wait for their monthly cap to renew before they download 8Gb on top of another smaller title.

It's likely you'll have 30 days to claim the titles, after which you can download them anytime you like. I'll confirm that point with Sony, though.

Holy smokes! I'm glad I already own InFamous!? Is Sony gonna pick up the tab for those who do want for example InFamous & LBP but are stuck with limited caps? Of course they aren't expected to but it's a bit rough when to download two games = 10GB cap used up = approx $40 worth of data for your "free" games?

When the PSN store is repaired, the very internet itself will break under the strain.

Good thing I just got a new hard drive for my PS3. 60GB was no where near enough room and when I heard we were getting free games I thought I might aswell upgrade.

I'm going to have to do another purge to make the room. Might actually be easier just to get a bigger hard drive.

Yeah Infamous and Wipeout HD for me.
Pretty hefty, but worth it. I was hoping to play Infamous again before 2, but not enough time i'll still grab it for future plays. Will grab them close to when my bandy is over at the end of the month, i take it they will be avail for the 30 days?

Looking forward to Wipeout also.

It's probably compressed to make the download smaller.

u dont have to borrow any1's internet, you can just wait until the last day of your internet then download as much as u can ,so the next day it restarts back to 0gb, and you dnt have to put up with slow internet

Considering I have 3 PSN accounts, Ill be downloading close to about 14GB worth of Data....on a 20GB plan.

Was hoping PSN Store could come up today, meaning I can exploit the free, fast and unrecorded data the day before my net renews.
