Gizmondo Europe, subsidiary of Jacksonville, Florida-based Tiger Telematics, is delighted to announce it has begun shipping worldwide orders taken on the official website since going live on 29th October 2004.
As previously released in December '04, the company took over 560,000 pre-orders from all over the globe, following a TV and web teaser campaign at the end of last year. The three-month campaign, designed to unveil the new multi-entertainment device and prompt consumer enquiries, delivered over 16 million unique sessions a month on the newly designed website from all over the world.
"The site will continue to take orders as the pan-European retail rollout commences, and we will ship to customers on a first-come-first-served basis," said Carl Freer, Co-founder and Chairman of Tiger Telematics. "We're visibly gathering momentum in the UK and that will naturally have a spill-over effect on to mainland Europe. Streetdate announcements will follow shortly detailing the pan-European launch diary and heavy hitting marketing campaigns planned for each territory."
The company is also enjoying ongoing success at their flagship store at 175 Regent Street in London, taking daily stock-drops, and looks forward to the immanent announcement of additional flagship stores in high profile locations across the globe.
Carl Freer, added, "The escalation of the marketing activity is driving more and more people to the store, heightened by the Easter break. Since bringing Regent Street to a standstill on the opening weekend, we've maintained our positioning of the store as the complete Gizmondo brand experience, which will benefit all our UK retail partners, who began stocking this past weekend."
Michael Carrender, CEO, Tiger Telematics, says: offered, "We have accumulated sufficient funding to complete the European launch and associated marketing in the projected time frame."
The Gizmondo is powered by Microsoft Windows CE advanced real-time operating system, boasting a 2.8-inch TFT colour screen with a Samsung ARM9 400Mhz processor and incorporates the GoForce 3D 4500 NVIDIA graphics accelerator. It provides cutting-edge gaming, multimedia messaging, an MP3 music player, Mpeg4 movie playing capability, a digital camera and a GPRS network link to allow wide-area network gaming. Additionally, it contains a GPS chip for location-based services, is equipped with Bluetooth for use in multi-player gaming and accepts SD and MMC card accessories.
The Gizmondo device and its games are in retail stores now in the UK, and in North American and Continental Europe markets from Spring 2005. Although The Company cannot project the number of units it will ultimately sell.
