Warner Bros has confirmed the production of a live-action Mortal Kombat series of short videos, based around the rebirth trailer (itself based on the series of fighting games). The shorts will feature classic 'kombatants' such as Johnny Cage, Liu Kang, and Scorpion. It's unclear at this stage whether they'll connect together with an overarching plot or whether they'll be stand-alone; it's also unknown as to how long each of the video shorts will be.
Kevin Tancharoen, director of the fan-made rebirth, will return and filming will begin in February - the series is expected to debut later this year.
Warner Bros revealed the series will be available through digital distribution, but stopped short of announcing the format and pricing.

Sweet thought I was just hearing hype the last couple of weeks, still hoping the series will continue if successful. As far as the movie, way way overdue.
when i saw the rebirth trailer i thought it was going to be a movie but found out later it was a short film grrrr... but this should be good if they going to make it a series thing.. hopefully they linked

Annoys me their are such awesome trailers.. but they are short, I wanna see more! unfortunately the games arent like the trailers lol like comparing apples and oranges

Oh stink I was hoping for a full on movie. Oh well if the shorts are as good as rebirth it should be good
