Sony today released PlayStation 3 firmware update 3.42. There are reports that the mandatory update patches up the security hole exploited by PSJailbreak and its variants. It was a given that Sony would find and patch the hole. A move made easier when they acquired the original version in a court case.
Sony has yet to announce whether or not the update adds/removes any functionality.
The update is live on PlayStation Network now and will be available from the PlayStation 3 website soon.

Sony has confirmed that the update is just a security fix. The update is now available from PlayStation.com and weighs in at 167mb.

Ha well this comes as no surprise.
I wonder if this will kill psjailbreak or if it will become like the psp and be an endless battle between sony and the hackers.
This hack is very sad. Hope it doesn't kill Sony. :(
These jailbreakers end up causing more problems for the people who choose not to be involved in it...
Hackers are f*gs. Why even do it? They just ruin what was a good thing. Piss off I say. And keep it up Sony.
Yea cos' the hackers made ALL PS3s able to play PS2 with their JB. If they could do it then Sony should give us the right without hacking.
