Duke Nukem Forever Coming 2011

Over ten years ago, 3D Realms officially announced Duke Nukem Forever. After numerous delays and cancellations on various consoles, Gearbox said that Duke Nukem Forever will be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in 2011.

The big announcement was made today at the Penny-Arcade Expo. Gearbox even had playable builds on hand to make sure everyone knows they are serious.

"It's coming out in 2011," Gearbox Software, Randy Pitchford, told Wall Street Journal, “Clearly the game hadn’t been finished at 3D Realms but a lot of content had been created. The approach and investment and process at 3D Realms didn’t quite make it and it cracked at the end. With Gearbox Software we brought all those pieces together. It’s the game it was meant to be.”

Development is on the home stretch, so we should expect an early 2011 release. "We're in the polishing phase now. This is a game where we can not make a promise we can not fulfill," Pitchford added. "We need to get past the shock and awe, and then we can go to all the retailers and first parties and work out a launch plan."

Read the rumour yesterday, and this is great news to wake up to. TakeTwo always had the publishing rights and I guess this is a quick way to get back the money they dropped on 3D Realms.

good news indeed that it will finally be coming out. I had just started pc gaming in 1997 when this was first announced in development so I think I will definitely be buying this when it does hopefully come out next year.
also some more information about what happened after the court battle in 2009 and how gearbox came into developing dnf

The statment "The most anticipated game ever" is quite relevant here, considering we've been waiting 12 years (And numerous vapourware awards)!!

Will it be filled with self referential quips about it's decade+ long vapourware status!? I'm sure it will be...
