Brad Pitt to Star in Red Dead Redemption Film?

According to Showbizspy.com (via IGN) Brad Pitt is the top pick to star in an upcoming Red Dead Redemption movie. A source told the site Pitt would be perfect for the role of RDR protagonist John Marston and “he is being given first refusal."

“This is an exciting project with a great character at the center of it,” the source added. “The idea is to make this in the style of an epic Western movie but with a few modern touches." Showbizspy.com described the movie as "an epic cowboy shoot-em-up based on the PlayStation game."

When asked about the movie, Rockstar Games told IGN.com the studio does not comment on rumor or speculation.

I kind of think a movie would ruin the series a bit. Kind of like selling out.

I agree, if people want to know the story of John Marston they should play the game.

The fact they're offering Pitt the role rather than someone more suited to playing a grizzled gunslinger looks to me that they're not taking it very seriously as far as tribute to the source material. The man is a brilliant actor but I don't see him as Marston. I'm happy to be proven wrong though.

Yeah definitely not movie big. Same with Uncharted in my opinion.

How are they gonna make it into a movie? The storyline was pretty basic and by no means will take up a 1.5 hour time slot.

Unless they are planning to draw it out by showing Brad Pitt skin countless bears, harvest a few herbs, shoot a dozen birds etc etc..
