Sony Ericsson could be developing a PlayStation Phone built around Google's Android OS. According to a report on Engadget, their "trusted source" says the phone will be like a cross between a Samsung Captivate (below) and PlayStation Portable Go.

Engadget says that, while Sony Ericsson hasn't even released an Android 2.0 enabled phone, it appears they are skipping to Android 3.0. The phone/gaming device has been described in detail. It's said to feature PSP style controls - d-pad, along with face buttons and shoulder buttons. However, instead of the analogue stick the phone will feature a touch pad. The display is said to be around 3.7 inches with WVGA resolution. Gaming grunt wise, a 1ghz CPU is being considered.
The source indicated that, while it's currently branded an Xperia device, the phone will carry the PlayStation branding instead of, or in addition to it, on release.
In addition, the Android store will feature a section specifically for the device's games. The titles will have visuals in the range of PlayStation 1 or PlayStation Portable. Controls and hardware permitting, the games may be playable on other Android devices.

I had an Aino but really the PS3 connectivity is as gimmicky as the PSP's. Pretty crap to be honest. Moved on to an Android Sony Ericsson X10 which is millions of times better even though it misses the PS3 functionality. The amount of potential Android has is amazing, and the app library is starting to rival that of the iPhone's (though it will take a while). But Android definitely has the support needed to take it to the top! NZ doesn't seem to realise how big Android is overseas.
Gah!? Just give me a PSP2 with two analogue sticks and stop wasting time with these sideshow freaks (PSP Go! included!)...
You buying a PSP is all talk and no action :P
Do it! Do it! Do it!
Yeah i agree its total gimmicky. And ill be looking to step up to Android at some point too :) If this PS Phone is a basic PSP and Android in one it maybe a go?
that would be really cool like a excellent but handy splice
