New Korean-Air TV advertisements are now featuring references to Starcraft. In more proof at the prevalence of Starcraft in Korean culture, two advertisements have surfaced featuring Korean youths in various situations being influenced by the game.
With a viewing audience of millions, Starcraft is looking at further ingraining itself in the Korean national identity with its association with the nation’s national carrier. Coinciding with the advertisements, Korean-Air have painted one of their planes in Starcraft II livery as well as sponsoring the Starcraft tournament Ongamenet Starleague (OSL).
It is not hard to see why Korean-Air would enter into such commercial arrangements, with OSL known to attract tens of thousands of fans as well as OSL being beamed to millions on national television.
