Insomniac Goes Multiplatform

Electronic Arts announced today a publishing deal with Insomniac Games that will bring the studio’s upcoming new franchise to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Published through the EA Partners program, the still unnamed title is in production at the company’s Burbank studio. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.



“Working with EA Partners allows us to extend the reach of our games to a multiplatform audience while retaining ownership of the intellectual property,†said Ted Price, founder and CEO of Insomniac Games. “We are excited and eager to introduce Insomniac to a new group of gamers while reinforcing to our loyal fans what makes our games special.â€

Good for them getting money, but I hope this doesn't affect either of their excellent Playstation franchises.

Man...imagine if somehow Resistance went multi. That would be nuts.

I wonder what type of game they're developing. I've enjoyed their shooters, their platform games not so much.

Unlikely.

The Ratchet and Clank IP is owned by Sony. Pretty sure Resistance is aswell.

This was obviously coming at some point.

Also to clarify for some, they have stated like a bajillion times already they will still be making their PS3 exclusive series and that they still will be only on PS3. This new IP however will be multi-plat.

This is very similar to the Bungie deal. EA publishes one new IP, and lets Insomniac Games own the IP. It won't effect any of the Sony owned IPs as Insomniac Games has two studios. Its good for them, as the IP will be a good asset, if they start getting into money problems.
