THQ Founder Jack Friedman Passes Away

Jack Friedman, who founded LJN in 1970, THQ in 1989, and co-founded Jakks Pacific in 1995, has passed away at 70-years-old.

Fiedman's first two companies published wrestling titles including Rare's WWF SuperStars for GameBoy under LJN and last year's Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 and UFC Undisputed by Yuke's.

His last company, Jakks Pacific, released standalone plug & play games, as well as licensed toys such as Pokemon and WWE figures.

His former colleges on the Jakks Pacific board of directors issued this statement:

"We are greatly saddened by the passing of Jack Friedman. He was a visionary leader who guided the Company with wisdom and keen judgment. Toys were his passion, and his legacy will live on in JAKKS Pacific. We extend our sympathies to his family."

Thanks for the memories.

He left THQ in 1995, long before the Smackdown vs Raw series started.
