At the Games Developers Conference, Crysis developer Crytek showed of this tech demo for their latest 3D engine "CryEngine 3". The new engine will power Crysis 2 which is due out later this year.
The demo shows off some of the engine's features including destructible environments and 'dynamic time of day lighting' on consoles and 'deferred lighting' on PC.

The new engine may be more kind in terms of PC system requirements compared to the original - which was synonymous with high-end system requirements - as it's designed with consoles in mind.

I didn't think about how the ability to use the engine on consoles could help reduce the specs needed to run it on a PC, win win WIN.
