In light of the recent announcement regarding Xbox Live closing for classic Xbox games Halo 2 developers Bungie have announced plans for a send off for their multiplayer classic - and one of the most popular Xbox Live titles of the last generation - Halo 2.

In a post on Bungie.net the team comment:
"We're all saddened at the realization that an era is coming to an end but looking back, we're incredibly fortunate to have had such a great run and such strong support from our fans."
Closing by thanking the fans for their avid support.
"We're extremely thankful to everyone who has played, enjoyed and supported Halo 2 over Xbox LIVE. We've had some great fun together, including far too many humpday losses to even recount."

Awww, I was hoping they were going to play around with the multiplayer. For example headshots will make confetti explode.
Of course it's still up - they're only cutting the service on Xbox 1 games.
Any chance of them putting it on the 360 Marketplace to download and make a new server?
Goodbye halo 2. We have had many fun times. Ive super bounced and no scoped ,with some sticks from across the map too.
Farewell
