NZ Game Charts (Week Ending 24th Jan)

Published By: Morgan Bates   On: Friday 5 Feb 2010 12:00 PM

Nintendo continues to dominate the charts this week, taking up the top four positions with their line of casual Wii titles, and Mario Kart.

The rest of the list is comprised of core games. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 continues to maintain its 5th and 6th positions months after launch, while Assassin's Creed 2 (for PS3) moves up a spot to replace Darksiders, which in turn has dropped two spots thanks to Army of Two: The 40th Day. PC hit Sims 3 is hanging on in last place.

I don't like that 3 of the top 4 are most likely there due to the hardware you receive with the product...actually, maybe even Wii Fit too.

But hey, you can't knock Nintendo for intelligent marketing!

Good to see Darksiders going strong...and woo! Army Of Two: The 40th Day in there! I'm stoked because I believe that game deserves it for it's awesome online viral campaign!

Actually, one of the reasons I haven't picked up a pre-owned copy is because they rarely come with the wheel.

Wheel > You.

Anyway, I'm still surprised to see the PS3 making the 360 its b*tch. Are we living in backwards land, or does it just show that 360 owners tend to shop at EB?

Yeah, I just mean no one would but a full copy of Mario Kart just for a wheel. Whereas they would for say, and extra wii remote.

Sadly the data takes awhile to collate and then publish.

What is the use if this article doesn't even include the biggest games retailer? Or even online stores...

Oh please. Regardless of the fact your comprehension skills suck -- and they say national standards are a bad thing -- are you really going to have the attitude of "The game I like isn't on the list, so the list is worthless?"

Yeah, but the other 70% of sales is well in advanced to make a suitable sample size. Just ask AC Neilsen who judge the NZ TV ratings with <5% of all household data.
