Bayonetta has been out over a week now and the sales charts have arrived. They show some interesting results for the multiplatform slash 'em up and although it didn’t come in at the top spot on either console, Bayonetta in fairly respectable spots on both platforms.
The PlayStation 3 version - which had some pretty poor press - managed to get in at a very respectable 5th place - just below Uncharted 2, one of the biggest titles of last year.
Check out the PlayStation 3 chart:

It fared a little better on the Xbox 360 chart, coming in 4th place above Dark Siders which was released on the same day, and below Forza Motorsport 3, Assassin’s Creed 2 and Modern Warfare 2 which continues to hold the top spot.

Keeping in mind that these charts don't compare the cross-platform sales, it seems Bayonetta is doing pretty well on both considering the stiff competition from last year's big titles. Of course, whether it will go up or down the lists remains to be seen.

Anyway, I'm impressed it ranked at all and am happy to eat my words on the matter. However, it is interesting to note that it's still being beaten by Modern Warfare 2 and Assassin's Creed II... and the others. You think after the Christmas season most people would have those games. Either they're still selling well, which is impressive, or Bayonetta isn't selling as well as it seems, which isn't that good.
I'm glad Darksiders is doing well, just so more people can experience its awesome character designs. I was at EB about a week ago and they were talking about how they were selling so many copies throughout the North Island. No mention of Bayonetta, though.
It's hard to figure out if how Bayonetta is performing is good or not. But, for Sega I'm glad it's doing alright. I love Sega, even though they haven't been doing too well, just, nostalgia whenever I think about Sega :)
