Activision has announced a new Transformers title - more importantly, one that's not based on Michael Bay’s movies. The new game is titled Transformers: The War for Cybertron and it’s a prequel to the original 1980s Transformers, based on the war between the Autobots and Decepticons before they came to earth.
Based on the trailer the following Transformers are confirmed: Optimus Prime, Omega Supreme, one of the Decepticon Jets (probably Starscream), and what appears to be some Autobot clones.
The title is in development at High Moon Studios, the developer behind The Bourne Conspiracy for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Can't see the trailer at work, but does this mean that Optimus isn't a firetruck and so on? Cause they haven't been to earth yet... That would suck.

Yeah, although I can't see the trailer at the moment to check - it's probably just xtra though.

I have played the transformers games and so far I just cant find anything to like about them, might be interesting to see the finished product of this project, oh and it would be cool if they did a beast wars too as I thought that they were better in being C.G.I

Will give it a look when it is released, but I dont have high hopes for it.
I asume since it takes place before they come to earth that there will be no earth vechiles to transform into.

This looks like it's based on War Within designs. Seeing Omega Supreme like that made me cream a little.
IF they pull an Arkham Asylum with this it could be great. I've got high hopes for anything that's not a movie tie-in.
