Commander Keen, the beloved early 1990s side scrolling platform title from ID Software is being remade by a lone Kiwi.
ID have given the remake its blessing, saying the attempt by this lone developer is a "tribute" to the original series. For those younger gamers out there - Commander Keen follows the story of Billy Blaze an eight year old child who travels through space under the moniker of "Commander Keen". Replicating the side scrolling style of Super Mario Bros, (early) Duke Nukem and Sonic, it proved a smash hit amongst early shareware communities.
Unfortunately Theres not much to show at this stage - and given that this is just one guy working alone its unlikely that the remake will ever be totally playable. However here is a clip of whats been created so far.
Stay tuned to NZGamer.com for additional reporting on this emerging story (once we find this elusive kiwi developer!)
