Blizzard Celebrates 15 Years of Warcraft

Published By: Morgan Bates   On: Tuesday 24 Nov 2009 2:02 PM

Happy Anniversary to World of Warcraft and its parent series, Warcraft. Blizzard’s popular MMORPG and classic RTS series celebrate their 5th and 15th birthdays today.

The franchise - specifically World of Warcraft - is still as popular as ever, keeping millions of gamers away from their family, friends, and life in general.

To celebrate this festive occasion, Blizzard are giving every World of Warcraft member that logs in today a free Onyxian Whelpling pet (pictured below) – a miniature version of the dragon Onyxia.

"keeping millions of gamers away from their family, friends, and life in general."

Quite true.

I've recently decided that WoW is the only game anyone ever needs and that all other games are merely a nice distraction.

I agree. But also agree with "keeping millions of gamers away from their family, friends, and life in general."

lol
its a love - hate relationship for sure with WoW
Ive been WoW free for 8 months now, just moved the addiction to consoles really lol but consoles are ALOT easier to leave, and come back whenever you want.

WoW is a freaking amazing game, everyone always just looks at the negative side effects but it is really just one hell of a game. I have loved warcraft sincet he beginning.... well almost the beginning. I started playing them with WC2 which is easily one of my top games ever. The warcraft franchise is awesome, 15 years, and will still go a long time I bet.

I just don't see the appeal of WoW. The old strategy Warcrafts were fun though.

Lots of games are addicitve, this one just happens to drain money from your bank account - after you buy it.

Pfft. WoW saves you money. With WoW, you don't need to buy other games. The money you've spent on games in November alone is enough to keep me playing WoW for an entire year.

I completely agree! When I was playing WoW I could pay what $20? a month and get tonnns of hours out, more than any game I would pay full price for.

I would have to agree with nearly every comment here... WoW has saved me money by not purchasing other games that i would have normally purchased for the multiplayer aspect cause i know once i finish the campaign and few days of MP its gonna sit on the shelf. I have also seen it tear families apart due to the addictiveness of it.
I believe the much anticipated expansion "Cataclysm" will also extend its life for a couple more years.
With 5 years, 11 million subscribers and future expansions it is the game you Hate to Love.
