Square Enix Europe has announced the release date for Final Fantasy XIII. The biggest RPG of 2010 will be released on March 9th simultaneously on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
If the date holds this will be the first time a Final Fantasy gets a simultaneous North America/PAL release - a big step up from previous titles which have had long delays between PAL and NA releases.
Here’s what Square Enix Europe President, Phil Rogers had to say:
“Final Fantasy XIII promises to be a huge event in the 2010 gaming calendar. This is truly a landmark title, arriving simultaneously for multiple platforms for the first time in the history of the series. We are also immensely proud to be able to bring the game to the European and PAL audience much earlier than was publically anticipated.”
Getting Final Fantasy XIII on the same date as North America is a great coup for Square Enix’s PAL distributor, Square-Enix Europe (formally known as Eidos Interactive)
In addition, Square Enix has announced that Grammy-nominated singer/song writer Leona Lewis will create the theme tune for the English release.
Here’s what Tom Corson, EVP/GM, RCA Music Group, had to say about the selection.
"When Square Enix approached Leona about including her song, "My Hands," in Final Fantasy XIII, she was honoured to be partnered with such an iconic and groundbreaking video game series. Leona is a natural fit with the game’s powerful themes and strong female protagonist. We’re delighted to be part of this effort, bringing great musical artistry to Final Fantasy XIII which is a riveting and dynamic gaming experience."

Ive never played a final fantasy game before, so if I started playing this one would there be much I wouldn't understand?
No, the FF (Final Fantasy) series are pretty different from one another, none that I know of are related to the previous ones. (then again, I haven't played anything prior to VII)
Good, between this and GoW3 it'll make a busy first quarter to the year
IMO, this game keeps changing each release, and i feel this title will be further "out-there".
I also understand that is the whole point.
Oh well, when more info comes out i may change my mind about it.
