Activision confirms another Call of Duty Title for 2010

Published By: Conrad Reyners   On: Thursday 12 Nov 2009 9:00 AM

Even before the dust has settled with the ironic release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 yesterday (it was armistice day) Activision are already rolling out more titles for the now lengthy gaming series.

Activision President Mike Griffith had this to say:

“In [calendar year] 2010, Activision Publishing is expected to release strong, innovative new titles,” and that “The diversified lineup will include titles based on the best selling franchises including Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, Shrek, [and] Spider-Man.”

It is too early to say what subset the new titles will fall in. Will it be another installment in the World War Two vein? Or will the current departure from the now tired World War Two setting be continued with a new addition to the Modern War series?

The worldwide release of COD:MW2 has met with positive reviews, and its plausible that the series could continue. But nothing sells better than Normandy heroism - just ask EA Games.

Whatever the announcement is, gamers are holding their breath and hoping for more gaming innovation and spectacle from Infinity Ward - a developer who is quickly solidifying a leading position in the industry.

In other news, tomorrow the sun will rise in the East and set in the West. ;)

"But nothing sells better than Normandy heroism - just ask EA Games."

Actually, rumor has it that the next Medal of Honor game will be set in modern times. Looks like even publishers are tired of World War II.

Actually, reading this again: what? I mean, yeah, we knew that Activision pumps out Call of Duty games yearly, but we are aware that two developers share it, right? Both Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War were programmed by Treyarch, not Infinity Ward. This is so that they can stick to a two-year development cycle while still pumping these games out yearly. So Infinity Ward won't be behind this next game.

Also, Modern Warfare 2 is seen by Infinity Ward as a new IP. That's why it doesn't say Call of Duty anywhere in the game except on the box. In fact, it wasn't even on the box originally, and was only added after they felt its absence would damage brand recognition for the title.

haha, hopefully the next title will be released at a decent price.
I like ww2 games, they have yet to make a perfect one.
Although brothers in arms was pretty epic.

I will admit that when I was 10 that Shrek 2 was great fun.

Really dont see how a series that went stale with the third one keeps on pumping out so many games. Horrible games at that.

And more Guitar Hero? Oh f*ck, these guys dont know what slow down means.

Did anyone else the article on Kotaku saying that Activision might be making Drum Hero? And I thought Band Hero was enough...

Don't Think COD would do future warfare...

So WAW mainly aimed on the Pacific fighting era of WW2, how about some Desert Action? Libya? Egypt? Africa? That is how the SAS were created, So i'm sure if it is another WW2 game, There should be definetly Desert fighting.
