Bioware has announced Dragon Age Journeys, a free to play browser-based title. It has been developed by browser-based production team at EA to serve as a prelude to their upcoming title, Dragon Age: Origins.

“Dragon Age Journeys sets the stage for Dragon Age: Origins,” said Mark Darrah, Executive Producer, Dragon Age: Origins. “The team has shown the Dragon Age Franchise in a bold new light and the release of this game allows a broad audience of players to discover our dark fantasy universe for the first time.”

Dragon Age Journeys features intense tactical combat, a compelling story and deep customization. Players can choose from one of six different origin stories, each offering a unique background that shapes the lens of how the player perceives the world and how the world will perceive them.

You can jump in Dragon Age Journeys by heading over to the Dragon Age Journeys site.

This is sure to keep players occupied until Dragon Age Origins is released for Xbox 360 and PC on November 6th. The PlayStation 3 version will launch a couple of weeks later.

you guys forgot to mention that by playing through Dragon Age Journeys you can unlock 3 items for Dragon Age Origins, I got bored of the game pretty fast, the only thing that will make me want to play it would be just to get the other 2 unlockables

So what, do we pay to play this or is it like advertising for the full console/PC game?

I downloaded a bunch of DAO vids. The cut scenes looked ridiculously far-removed from the actual in-game fighting; the FMVs/cut scenes looked like Marvel vs Capcom - fast, fluid, and over-the-top (good things), but footage of actual fighting in the game looked agonizingly slow, clunky and mechanical (bad things).... pity, because the rest of the game has a cool look. Judgement will be reserved till after a test drive.
