And another counter punch from Sony! The real winners are the consumers with Microsoft & Sony slogging it out!

Um, okay. I guess it's a good deal considering the price of getting a 250GB HDD and a new game. But is anyone else starting to get a little frustrated with the flurry of new models? I feel like it's retarded to buy one now, as it seems like a new and/or better model is just around the corner.

I'm thinking Yes, I'm just confused in the strategic planning around these decisions. Surely they don't just go into a meeting and decide to bring a new model out willy nilly, but maybe they do.

I think all three console manufacturers this generation suffer from a lack of foresight. I think many didn't see digital distribution catching on in such a big way. (512MB in the Wii? Really?) Then you have a lot of tacked on features that are made possible through the Internet. Installations, something that happened for only one game last generation, have become the norm, especially on the PS3. I'm sure there is more to come too.

When these consoles were designed, there is no way they could have been planning for these when they stuck 13GB of usable memory in the 360 and thought that 20GB would be enough in a PS3. It seems like they aren't learning either. It appears they need to constantly release a new model as soon as they announce a new feature.

The funny thing about this all is that most of these features aren't available to New Zealand, so at this stage 250GB is pure overkill.

What boggles me is how insanely cheap the harddrives are anyway. It's literally a few dollars difference in buying a 40-60-80-120-250GB harddrive.

$130 for a game and over twice the hard drive space sounds like a fair deal to me.

Average deal, Ill wait for better.
Can get the 120gb slim + Batman Asylum for $598 and then just buy a 250gb 2.5" HD for $80 and install it yaself.
For <$680 you have a PS3 Slim, a great game, 250gb AND a spare 120gb u could house up and use as an external.
Xmas and NY im sure will see better deals.

Great way to push on more consoles. The new model comes alongside a new price and new sales pitch - its all good for the consumer. I got my PS3 only a few months back before the drop and new model .. but shiz happens.

Got to remember that any 2.5 inch SATA laptop HD will slot into the PS3. Just looked recently and 320GB is going for around 80 bucks. Nice upgrade that you can do to your old model if needed.

It's an alright deal.

Considering I paid $799 for the console alone before the Slim existed

It's a pretty good deal, especially when you consider that's a RRP and these bundles may well sell for less as we've recently seen happen with the PS3 Slims initial launch. Add to that the fact that one of the games is Uncharted 2 (which may well turn out to be the highest rated game on PS3 thus far and is a game of the year contender) and this should surely be tempting to some?!
