Activision has announced the fourth playable artist in their upcoming Guitar Hero 5 is Muse frontman Matt Bellamy. In addition to his likeness, he brings Muse’s hit single “Plug in Baby” to the 85 song track list. He joins the previously announced musical legends: Johnny Cash, Carlos Santana and Shirley Manson.

I reckon RockBand are doing better because they're getting more of "Today's" music to play. Most teens would want to play today's music because it's on TV more; the more you listen to it, the more you like it. Quite a lot of people that have this game are teens, so I would suggest to Guitar Hero to put out more 'new' music... even if it is *shudder* Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Blink 182. I'm not saying that these people on the track-list are 'bad'... It's just that Guitar Hero aren't trying to pull all audiences, and instead, are pulling for older people/teens that explore music. Personally, I like newer music, and at the moment, I'm not getting pulled into GH5 at all.

Actually, Guitar Hero World Tour slaughtered Rock Band 2 in the USA. I'm not saying it's the better game, in fact I imported Rock Band 2 from Singapore, wireless drumkit and all, because I thought rock band was much better, but it just goes to show how much Brand awareness has an effect on sales.

If I asked my friends if they've heard of RockBand, most of them would say no. If I asked them if they've heard of Guitar Hero, they would say yes. They may see GH and RB right next to each other (the game discs) on the shelf, and they'd have no idea what RB was, so, they'd just pick up GH because that's really the only 'music' game most non-gamers would know. RB needs to advertise more.

On the contrary, the folks at hmx push much more rare cuts from bands and lesser known artists than GH, that happen to be a blast to play.GH will try and get as many "bad ass" guitar driven songs and shredders on the game but really don't have a clue besides that. With over 1000 songs available by years end RB has everything near covered, from lesser known artists, to old school, to some of todays more radio friendly fair.

Im 24 and always thought I had a good grasp on good rock but RB has opened my eyes even more. GH is loud in your face, and attention grabbing, RB is simply a more polished, perfected, and knowledgable library.

It just works out that most people who buy games are more appeased by bright shiny flashy things jumping out at them without doing the research

Please. No Micheal Angelo Batio.

Gene Simmons? he would probably pay sh*tloads to try and get his face(or KISS) into anything

But Gene would be better than MAB.

God this is awesome. It would ALMOST get me to buy this game, but the fact is that I hardly ever play any of these Guitar games and yet I am still sick of them.

However, my girlfriend is going to have a seizure over this.
