Midway Newcastle Closes

Published By: Morgan Bates   On: Wednesday 15 Jul 2009 1:33 PM

Last week we reported that Warner Brothers had purchased most of Midway apart from their San Diego and Newcastle Studios.

Today the latter, Midway: Newcastle, closed its doors because they couldn’t find a buyer within the designated time limit and ownership of the Wheelman IP has been picked up by WB.

Talking to Kotaku, Midway spokesman, Geoffrey Mogilner comments: "During the notification period we were actively searching for bidders, and since we didn't find any unfortunately it was necessary to close it down."

In slightly better news, San Diego studio still has until September to find a buyer.

Oh man. Poor Midway. I remember the days of Blitz games and such. Well, hopefully the Wheelman IP will get cleaned up for the next round...if there'll be one.

Blitz!!!

Hahaha I'm surprised others here know of that game.
Who ever came up with the idea of merging wrestling and gridiron is a genius.
