We overheard, via Kotaku, that the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 that had it's big debut trailer yesterday at Sony's E3 press conference shows a short snippet of damage on cars.
While this may not seem like huge news for most, it's taken 12 years for the series to finally include damage on vehicles.
Given the manufacturers who have previously voiced concerns about gamers damaging their cars in the game, we're skeptical to whether damage will be on all cars, or all race-types.
See it for your own eyes though, watch the trailer (look out at the 1:37 mark):

That looks damn nice. But if I am correct, the only damage shown was during the rally clip? They can't have rally without damage so I assume this and maybe the NASCAR parts of the game will have damage and probably nowhere else.
agreed ^

Yep, Polyphony said a while back race cars would feature damage and that it's too much of a mess to have damage on all cars due to manufacturer issues.
Noticed int the trailer too that they now have a WRC and Nascar license, which is a first. :P

Good point never really looked at it that way. That looks damn nice. But if I am correct, the only damage shown was during the rally clip? They can't have rally without damage so I assume this and maybe the NASCAR parts of the game will have damage and probably nowhere else.
But one things for sure. When there is damage it will look stunningly beautiful.
That was almost all pre-rendered, lame. As a huge GT1-4 fan, I'm not interested in this in the slightest, they are too far behind the competition. And the manufacturer excuse is weak considering a lot of other racing games with licensed vehicles have damage.
Wow...
Damage...
Who cares? Seriously just because they haven't had it before doesn't make it special.
Looks alright. GT2 was sweet lol

I agree with your argument that other devs are doing damage. Isn't Bizarre Creations of PGR fame making BLUR which is vehicular combat with damage with real world vehicles??That was almost all pre-rendered, lame. AND also! Haven't Polyphony been using that same "It's hard to sort it with manufacturers" business since GT1??
Still looks good..but don't say "damage" if it's only to certain racing tiers because when i hear DAMAGE I think one clip and you've pretty much scr*wed up your whole race!
Damn, the video isn't working anymore. I wanted to rewatch. I shall go elsewhere!
