That's right, there's been a new Metroid game announced - and it's called 'Metroid: Other M'.
Nintendo and Team Ninja are working on bringing the franchise back to it's roots with first and third-person gameplay.

But it's roots are 2D! Looks fantastic but I hope it retains the sense of isolation and adventure present in all Metroid games bar Hunters and Pinball. Nice to see the HUD from Prime is still present.

This has been the highlight of E3 so far. It makes everything else look as fun as watching paint dry.
Looks like Metroid of War to me. Which means it looks bloody fantastc.

Awwww, c'mon "Chaos"...
Ninja Gaiden 2 was freaking mean and I always enjoyed the lightheartedness of the DOA series. Lighthearted as in just hit buttons to feel awesome.
But anyway, this game looks awesome. Really good animation and it looks like it want's to push the Wii a bit. And good to see RIDLEY back yet again!
