Sony Announce LittleBigPlanet and MotorStorm For PSP

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced a huge and colourful year for its PSP (PlayStation Portable) handheld entertainment system with the arrival of some big-name titles in 2009 for PAL territories. LittleBigPlanet and MotorStorm, previously only available on PLAYSTATION 3, will be coming to PSP this year, joining the ranks of popular PlayStation franchises such as the ever entertaining Buzz!

Those who like to give their mind a workout and their creativity an outlet will find themselves enchanted by the unique world of LittleBigPlanet which allows players to create their own levels and share them with the community. Petrol-heads with a taste for danger can experience the wild world of MotorStorm: Arctic Edge. The brutal off-road racing game goes off-piste, with an Arctic adventure in its most extreme location yet! And quiz maestro Buzz is back on PSP, searching for the smartest people in the country, in Buzz! Brain of New Zealand. These are just the start of a stellar line-up of games coming to PSP this year, positioning 2009 as the biggest year for PSP to date.

“There are a lot of big claims in the gaming industry but we’re confident when we say that 2009 is going to be an exciting year for PSP,” said Mark Hardy, European Marketing Director, SCEE. “Our fans have demanded big PSP titles and this year, we’re going to deliver again and again. With Resistance: Retribution, already on its way to stores, PSP gamers are going to get one big franchise after another.”

PSP is a world of fun in your hands or pocket: the ultimate handheld companion for anyone who loves entertainment on the go. It offers gaming, film, music, photography, downloadable games and content via PlayStation Store, while PSP-3000, which became available in 2008, features an enhanced screen and a built-in microphone. This year, PSP will also become available in a range of new colours. With all of this and more, you’re sure to want to pick up a PSP soon – that’s if you haven’t already. They also announced Assassins Creed and Rockband. There's a Motorstorm trailer out there too, but it's another stupid Sony pre-render hype generator.

That might actually tip me over the edge into buying a PSP. I've been thinking about it for a while but I do love LBP. I can feel my wallet starting to scream out in pain already.

Bout time the PSP receives a bit of love and takes centre stage along with the PS3 instead of hanging backstage all the time.

I'm glad I've stuck with my PSP now. I haven't played it much recently but this news will bring it out of its case. Definitely getting LBP and probably MotorStorm. No sure about Assassin's Creed though, because I've never played the original on my PS3 and I always feel bad buying a later game in a series if I haven't played or finished the first.

Why's that? Other than some of the older games having some interlacing issues it's a solid piece of kit. Interested to hear your reasoning, though, as I may be missing something.
