Kotaku.com are reporting that LittleBigPlanet is being delayed due to a track in the game that features two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an.
"During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologize for any offense that this may have caused.
We will begin shipping LittleBigPlanet to retail in North America the week of October 27th. Sorry for the delay, and rest assured, we are doing everything we can to get LittleBigPlanet to you as soon as possible."

"In case you've just joined us this morning, Sony and Media Molecule have run into a bit of a snag with LittleBigPlanet on a worldwide scale, with copies already out at retail being recalled due to some passages from the Islamic holy text Qur'an making their way into one of the game's background tracks. Now Sony has revealed the updated release date for the North American version of the game. Originally slated for an October 21st release, the new, improved version will begin shipping on October 27th."

At this stage we don't have any comment from SCENZ (being the weekend and all), so we're unaware if this will affect the NZ release date.
Keep it locked to NZGamer.com and we'll get some comment from SCENZ shortly, if it does in fact affect us at all.
Updated:
"The publisher has told Eurogamer that this means every copy of the game currently with retail in the world will be recalled and replaced, and retailers have started notifying customers of the hold-up."

It appears that it will affect the PAL release, again we'll issue a comment from SCENZ when we get the news.
3rd Update:
Eurogamer.net is reporting the following:
"Sony Europe has said that LittleBigPlanet "will start to appear in stores no later than the week commencing Monday 3rd November in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand, on a country by country basis"
At this stage we haven't received word from SCENZ to confirm this.

Camt believe no one picked it up during all the testing etc. and with all these reviews saying how polished the game was...
Still, a week delay is probably a good thing for everyones wallet with all the games coming out now..
Isnt it a song that has lyrics from the Qur'an? Not actually written text in the game
Yeah, I realised that just after I posted, but couldn't be bothered fixing the comment.
i mean they made a Divichie(cant spell)code game and that was religeously controvertial
do they think everyone islamic is a terrist or something
im athest(again i cant spell) but its still very stupid to haul back loads of games because some potentially unnoticeable phrases in a song brush islamic culture
}(
I bet you anyting there'll be a cristian reference in this game that the feds let slide
Have you guys got anyword from Sony yet regarding the NZ release date.
Hopefully living so far away from everyone else will actually come in handy.lol

Gotcha on your toes today dont they boss. And 6pm hasnt even hit.
Infact there are bets going around that NZGamer will crash come 6pm.lmao
I actually agree with AH here. We're all so tippy toe-y these days, can't upset anyone etc.
Owell thanks to NZG im sure the Resistance beta will tie me over, not to mention Motorstorm 2 and Far Cry 2.
Yep sure do.
I think we're all going a little too nuts over the whole sensitivity issue. Grow some balls, see sense and keep making the great games.
